James M. Skelly

James M. Skelly is currently Visiting Professor of Peace Studies at the Magee Campus of the University of Ulster in Derry, Northern Ireland; the Coordinator for Peace and Justice Programming for the international education organization BCA Study Abroad; and, Senior Fellow at the Baker Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies at Juniata College in Pennsylvania. Skelly's research and teaching interests are rooted in the sociology of knowledge and focus on reality construction related to international education, and issues of peace and conflict. Dr. Skelly has written and edited numerous articles informed by this research perspective including "The Global "Imagined Community" - International Education and Global Civil Society"(2010), "Fostering Engagement: The Role of International Education in the Development of Global Civil Society" (2009), and as editor of a special edition of the journal Peace Review on war and the dilemmas of soldiers which included his own "Reflections on Military Dissent"(2006). An Irish citizen, Skelly lives in Derry~Londonderry in Northern Ireland.
