The course aims to provide participants with all the necessary skills to mediate between conflicting parties in various fields. They acquire the skills and methods that enable them to find an effective and long term solution to all the probles that might arise during their work as a mediator as well as in their private lives.

Our training provides competency-based knowledge, practice-oriented and specific methods. Our teachers are committed to providing quality education and the emphasis in on the  value of knowledge.

The course aims to acquaint students with the psychological background of mediation. This way they will be able to get to know themselves and their clients better and resolve conflicts more efficiently. By the end of the course, students will be able to choose the right communication technique and thus properly prepare for mediation.

Course description:

The course aims to familiarize students with the instruments of mediation. This practice-oriented training introduces students to the alternative dispute resolution methodologies. During the semester students will gain their own experiences about mediation, their strengths and areas that should be further developed.

  • During the ‘contact phase’, students will have the chance to use the learnt techniques of communication, psychology and self-awareness.
  • During the ‘opening session’ students will be familiarized with those communication techniques and skills which are essential for finding the right tone, creating a safe climate and manage the mediation process.
  • During the ‘time without interruption phase’, students will be given the opportunity to experience the roles of their partners.

Aim of the course:

The effective method of case analysis by way of discussing specific legal cases helps students in their future mediator practice to realize the possibilities of mediation in a given situation, and if necessary the need for involving a legal expert, or whether to choose a legal procedure instead of mediation.

Course description:

There are three ways of conflict resolutions: court procedure through litigation, civil dispute with settlement out of court or alternative dispute resolutions with the help of mediation. Discussing and comparing the various procedures helps students in their future career to realize the possibility and need for mediation procedure.

Aim of the course:

During case discussion, students will be able to get an insight into the details and challenges of family, couple and divorce mediation through real-life case presentation. Discussing real cases helps students effectively to realize the characteristics and opportunities of mediation in these fields.

Course description:

Experience shows that family, couple and divorce mediation is the most frequently required type of mediation. Mediators working with family problems face various challenges. Students can experience the typical challenges that can arise in the stages of family mediation: when a case can be undertaken, how to be in communication with the official forums, in which cases an outsider professional assistance (psychologist, jurist) is needed. Furthermore, students will get acquainted with the communication features, game manoeuvres and the dangers of emotional involvement.

Aim of the course:

The aim of this course is to get students acquainted with the problems that may arise from the parallel practice of a mediator and jurist as presented by a practising jurist-mediator. 

Course description:

The basic requirement for a successful mediator is that they do not take sides, but assist the parties involved in the legal dispute to better understand each other’s positions, views and emotions. During court procedures only relevant legal facts can be examined. Due to their socialization the thinking and reasoning of jurists tend to be ‘legal’.  The responsibility of solicitors is to represent the interests of their client according to the laws and their legal position, and that of the judges is to make decisions according to the law. The revelation and discussion of problems arising from the socialization of jurists and their professional devotion helps future mediators to draw the line between solicitor/legal activities and mediation, as well as to understand the challenges they have to face as jurist-mediators.

Aim of the course:

The aim of this course is to present students how coaching can help mediation and where the borders lie between mediation and coaching.

Course description:

One of the key aspects of a successful mediation process is that the mediator should possess the appropriate tools and methodologies. Partner professions provide significant assistance and complement the mediation tools with their own particular methods. The mediator should always know where the borders lie in the application of other professions’ methods, which they should not cross in order to retain their credibility.

Coaching is a modern, practice-oriented approach which is tuned into the current social and personal needs and enables an effective cooperation with people. In Hungary, it is a dynamically spreading method, which has two main directions: Life coaching and Business coaching. The tools of both directions provide excellent and safe knowledge base for future mediators.

Coaching and mediation as partner professions are very close to each other, with many overlaps. Therefore it is the aim of this course to define the fundamental differences considering the work process and the application areas and to analyse the specialities, application opportunities and challenges of the two disciplines through practical examples.
