At the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Pázmány Péter Catholic University, there are over 40 different Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in the humanities, social sciences and economics, ranging from Hungarian and several foreign languages (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Latin, Arabic, Chinese) to history, art history, philosophy, aesthetics, psychology, sociology, international studies, political science, and international economics. Next to the BA-MA dual cycle, from 2013 a new, five-year teacher training program has been introduced nationwide. At our institution, 9 different teaching majors are available (Hungarian, History, English, German, French, Italian, Latin, Ethics, Media and Communication) in a variety of combinations, since each teacher trainee is required to have two majors. The language of instruction is Hungarian at most programs, but the modern Western foreign languages (English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish) are taught in the target language, as a post-intermediate language competence is an entry requirement.
Foreign students are welcome to study at our university. There are two ways to do it: part-time training and full-time training.
For more details please see the Educational Information Notice.
Part-time training means that a foreign student spends a semester or a full academic year at PPCU. You may participate in part-time training through a mobility program (eg. Erasmus, CEEPUS etc.), or by being a guest student.
To take part in a mobility program, you have to apply for it at your university in your home country (i. e. you have to be a university student). Your university has to have an agreement with PPCU. These mobility programs usually offer scholarships, and scholarship students don't have to pay a tuition fee at PPCU.
To be a guest student at PPCU, you have to ask for permission from the dean of the Faculty of Humanities. To get the necessary documents, please send an e-mail to the International Office: firstname.lastname@example.org
Full-time Training (BA, MA, PhD)
Since Hungary is part of the Bologna system, college and university students might get a degree on three levels: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Master of Arts (MA) and the Doctorate (PhD). If you wish to study and get a degree at PPCU, you have to take part in the admission procedure. Please write to email@example.com to get to know all the details!
