The Department of Chinese Studies at PPCU was established in 2012 as the second university department in Hungary specializing in Chinese studies. In a short time, it has become an important centre of Chinese studies in the country. It has established a wide network of international relations, and its staff members take part extensively in scholarly activities. The Department of Chinese Studies oversees the Major in Chinese Studies, the Minor in Chinese Studies and the Special Program of Chinese translation and Interpretation on the BA level. On the MA level, it is partially responsible for the MA program in East Asian Studies, a joint program of PPCU and Budapest Corvinus University. The Depertment is a unit of the Institute of International Studies and Political Sciences, which facilitates the cooperation between the departments and professors of international studies and Chinese studies. The head of the department is Dr. habil. Gergely Salát, Ph.D., associate professor. Activities of the Department can be followed at its semi-official blog and its Facebook page (both in Hungarian).
