Two years after the one in Krakow, Poland; SIGNIS Europe held its general assembly from April 24-26 in Malta. There, the new board of the continental group was elected.
The meeting was possible thanks to our local member, Karl Wright, who managed to find an outstanding location: the Mount Saint-Joseph retreat house, in Mosta. The theme of the meeting, “Communicating in the era of fake news”, allowed the participants to discuss, debate and reflect on the different ways to become better Catholic communicators in all forms of media including radio, TV, cinema and social media.
More than 12 European delegations were represented in the meeting, and were able to better understand the realities of the Church in Malta through the interventions of Kevin Papagiorcopulo (media officer), Edward Wright (Media Education), Sylvana Debono (editorial manager) and Herman Grech (journalist at the Times of Malta). Joachim Frank, German journalist, talked about ethics and the relationships between catholic journalists and the Church.
The last morning was dedicated to the elections of the new Board of SIGNIS Europe. The members elected a very balanced board between the joiners and the leavers, and with more women than before. The new board is as followed:

And Douglas Fahleson (Ireland), Joachim Opale (Germany), Romana Kocjancic (Slovenia), Philippine de Saint-Pierre (France), Antonio Urrata (Italy), Marek Lis (Poland), Joe Borg (Malta).
