Asian Elections

2020.02.04.

Over the course of the last year, important elections took place in Asia: in 2019 India re-elected Narendra Modi and in 2020 Taiwan re-elected Tsai Ing Wen. The end of this year will see another regionally important event: the US presidential election. What do these results mean? Are voters happy with the status quo? How can we make sense of the protests surrounding Modi's second term? Have the Hong Kong protests influenced Taiwan politics? What do the results mean for China? How will the US presidential race influence Asian politics and what are the possible outcomes?

The workshop will address these questions with the participation of experts, Peter Marton (Corvinus University of Budapest), Tamas Matura (Corvinus University of Budapest) and Gaurav Mukherjee (Central European University).

Date and time: 12 February 2020, (Wednesday) 6 pm
Venue: PPCU FHSS Sophianum (1 Mikszáth Kálmán tér, 1088 Budapest) room 009.
