Dr. Ruben Mirzakhanyan Awarded Honorary Doctorate by Pázmány Péter Catholic University

Dr. Ruben Mirzakhian, president of Armenian State Pedagogical University received an honorary doctorate certificate from PPCU president Dr. Szabolcs Szuromi on March 10 in Yerevan.

In the most recent follow up to the agreement signed in 2016 by Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPCU) and Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), Dr. Ruben Mirzakhian, president of ASPU received an honorary doctorate certificate from PPCU president Dr. Szabolcs Szuromi on March 10 in Yerevan. The Hungarian delegation, (comprised of president Professor Szabolcs Szuromi, Head of the Department of Armenian Studies, Bálint Kovács, Head of the Department of History, Sándor Őze and Director general of the National Széchényi Library, Dr. László Tüske) was welcomed with a traditional dance and a brass band performance. During the ceremony, books were donated for the newly formed Department of Armenian Studies at PPCU by the ASPU. The honorary celebration was followed by a meeting where the delegations exchanged gifts. The president of PPCU stressed the importance of the Department of Armenian Studies in regards to developing international relations, deepening cooperation between the two universities and establishing ties with educational institutions. "This is also an excellent opportunity for all those who have a desire to learn Armenian," he added.

In 2016, ASPU and PPCU signed a cooperation agreement which was aimed at promoting cooperation and academic exchange between the universities and boosting collaboration in the field of Armenian Studies. As a result of this agreement, this year, six Armenian students are studying at PPCU, and 5 Hungarian students in Yerevan.
