Dr. Gergely Fejérdy, lecturer at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Pázmány Péter Catholic University and Deputy Director of the Otto von Habsburg Foundation, received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Crown of Belgium on September 12.

This Belgian state honor, conferred by royal decree on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of science, the arts, literature, commerce, or industry.

The award ceremony took place at the residence of the Belgian Ambassador in Budapest. Among the attendees were Jeroen Vergeylen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Hungary; Dr. Nándor Máté Birher, Dean of the Faculty; as well as other experts in the fields of art and history.

Dr. Fejérdy’s scholarly work was particularly praised for his historical research on 20th-century Belgian–Hungarian relations, with special emphasis on aspects that had previously received little attention.

We warmly congratulate our colleague, who, in receiving this distinguished honor, has committed himself to continuing his academic endeavors in the same spirit—promoting understanding between nations and enriching historical knowledge.
