The Visegrád Cooperation celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2021. The cooperation of three states became a quartet after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, and, while it has had its ups and downs, V4 undoubtedly turned out to be a predominant formation in the Central European region. The fields of cooperation between Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia and Poland have multiplied throughout the years: as of today, the Visegrád 4 entails cooperation between the member states in the fields of politics, infrastructure, science, education and culture.

The aim of Pázmány International Club’s roundtable discussion is to evaluate the 30 years of the Visegrád Cooperation. How can the successful and less successful elements of the cooperation be defined? Is enlargement and/or further institutionalisation to be expected? What external and internal factors pose challenges to the cooperation? We seek answers to these and similar questions with the help of scholars from the four Visegrád countries: Zsombor Zeöld (Mathias Corvinus Collegium), Łukasz Janulewicz (University of Kent), Vít Dostál (Association for International Affairs, Prague) and Tomáš Strážay (Slovak Foreign Policy Association). The discussant of the event is András Rácz (PPKE, German Council on Foreign Relations).
