PIC Pázmány International Club welcomed Sam Mohamed - Syrian professor - who did a presentation about Alawita Community. Within the presentation we obtain comprehensive knowledge of the origin, history, belief and the characteristics of Alawita Community.
The alawites follow a branch of the Twelver school of Shia Islam. Because of the transparency at the beginning of the lecture the professor expound the family tree of Islam. The alawites are descendants of the followers of the eleventh Imam, however their belief differ from islam religion in many ways. During the lecture the professor presents these differences. Such particularity, for instance, that they believe in reincarnation - this is supported by the lecturer personal example. Their faith also differs in the interpretation of the Quran, - according to the professor „alawites give an evident and hidden meaning of Quran”. Moreover, also illustrates through personal experiences that within the alawita community there is a special treatment of women, as their aim is to establish equality between men and women. While the professor submit the origin, history and belief of the community, we receive continuous description of the alawites characteristics, especially about their open society.
In summary, we have been involved in a very interesting presentation, we gain an extensive knowledge from the theme. Sam Mohamed talked with great enthusiasm about the alawites, which is understandable since he is also a member of the community.
