PPKE BTK Modern East Asia Research Group cordially invites you to its next lecture about
Taiwan's Democratization
Guest lecturer: Tao Wen-lung, Head of the Taipei Representative Office in Budapest
Democratization is deemed as one of the most important factors in achieving world peace. Taiwan's unique experience in this regard has attracted a lot of global attention. In the past two decades, voters in Taiwan have elected their own leaders and their decisions have led to peaceful transfers of the government's executive power between different political parties in 2000 and 2008. This, however, does not mean that Taiwan's democracy has fully matured. Recent social movements have created unprecedented civil participation in public issues. Join us in a discussion with Ambassador Tao on the major issues impacting Taiwan's democratization.
The lecture will be followed by questions and discussion.
Date: 16 March 2015 6pm
Venue: Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Sophianum 1st floor, Room 112.
