The ‘Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution’ started 50 years ago in China

2016 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the ‘Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution’ 
in China, which took place from 1966 until 1976 and resulted in the persecution 
of intellectuals and the destruction of many historical relics and artifacts. What 
really happened? Why did this happen? What are the personal experiences of those
Hungarians who were working in the People’s Republic of China that time?
