The lectures will be held in Budapest at the Institute of Italian Culture (February 4, 2013) and PPCU's Sophianum (February 5–8, 2013).
Celebrating the author's 700th birthday, the aim of the course is to offer an opportunity for students outside Italy to deepen their knowledge of Giovanni Boccaccio's work.
Course program:
- historical and cultural insight into Boccaccio's era (Armando Nuzzo, 4 lectures)
- studying Boccaccio's language (Michele Colombo, 4 lectures)
- in-depth research of Boccaccio's works - Fiammetta, Corbaccio, Filocolo and Decameron (Zsuzsa Acél, Paolo Maino, György Domokos, 12 lectures total)
- analysis of Dante and Boccaccio (Norbert Mátyus, 4 lectures)
- analysis of the topics 'Boccaccio and cinema' (Margit Lukács, 4 lectures), 'Boccaccio and theatre' (Michele Sità)
Following the course, a trip to Pécs will offer an opportunity for a more informal time together and getting to know the city's cultural treasures.
