Unto the Deadline! – Budapest Workweek, PPCU-FHSS, 2014.03.23–28.
After the first and second workweeks (August 2013 in Nijmegen, and December 2013 in Rome), the third and closing one was organized in Budapest and was hosted by our faculty, and we spent it with meticulous and rigorous research and work in Sophianum at Mikszáth square.
We have reread, rewritten, and finalized almost all the pieces written thus far so as to make the end product worthy of the Programme’s name. How did we manage to align Hungarian and Dutch thinking and approaches to produce a coherent, fifteen thousand words long piece that deals with the common cultural heritage of Europe, its relation to antique Greek tragedies, and how all this can be reflected by contemporary museological, theatrical, and festival trends? The answers will be available in color print for everyone who is interested at the end of this semester.
Fortunately the Budapest workweek was not spent entirely with reviewing and correcting: we took a trip to the Piliscsaba campus, sailed on the Danube, and showed our guests from the Netherlands the most prominent sights of our capital, starting from the Buda castle to Andrássy avenue, as well as Ludwig Museum. Apart from the abundant food for thought, the Dutch student had the chance to delve into the peculiarities of Hungarian cuisine and the exclusive subculture of the ruin-pubs, all in order to better stimulate group work and productive collaboration.
