Miklós Vető, the acknowledged expert on the history of philosophy received the title of Doctor Honoris Cause from PPCU on December 15.
Born in Hungary in 1936, Miklós Vető studied at the University of Szeged. During the 1956 revolution, he escaped to Paris where he eventually finished his studies at the Sorbonne. He earned a doctorate in Oxford, where he focused on the ethics of Simone Weil, the topic of his first book. Since then, he has published many works on modern philosophy and religion. Miklós Vető has been a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2008, and in 2009, he was elected to the Académie Catholique de France.
