Granada hosted the most important annual event of the Erasmus Student Network, the Annual General Meeting between March 22 and 26. Representatives from most of the 493 sections and candidate sections came to Spain to take part in the AGM.
The delegates agreed on the changes in the ESN's constitution and they voted for the five members of the new International Board, which starts its work in July. On the third day, we attended workshops and seminars. I visited one about the new program titled Erasmus for All and about the changes it will introduce. I also attended a workshop on the Social Erasmus project; I got tips and ideas on how to organize a social project, how to arrange its advertisement, who I should contact if I organize such a project, and which prerequisites I should consider. There was another seminar titled Section Cooperation, where representatives with more practice and experience told us how to make ties between sections tighter and how we can strengthen the cooperation.
Besides working, we also showed the “Erasmus-feeling” to the population of Granada: during the opening event, hundreds of foreign students marched through the streets of the city with their national flags, singing mostly folksongs of their own countries. The hosting section organized us two cultural evenings as well; on the first one, the guest countries showed their own culinary particularities, and on the second, we visited a torro, where a horse show took place with Spanish music.
I am very pleased that I had the opportunity to participate in this event, because I had the opportunity to get new experiences and ideas about the Erasmus program and about the ESN as well. It was very good to see that there are so many youngsters across Europe who, with their activity, creativity and volunteer work, want to contribute to the successful and smooth operation of the Erasmus Student Network.
