Ambassador of India Visits Faculty of Humanities

His Excellency Ranjit Rae, Ambassador of India in Hungary, accompanied by Second Secretary V. V. Mohan, paid an official visit to the Faculty of Humanities of the Pázmány Péter University on July 3. 2009.

President György Fodor and the Faculty's Dean, Máté Botos represented the University. Taking part at the meeting were Vice-dean responsible for the international relations Éva Martonyi, head of Centre of International Studies János Jany, India research expert Vera Gáthy, and head of Office for International Relations Ildikó Ruzsits.


The informal meeting took place at the Dean's Office where HE the Ambassador handed over the Embassy's donation, approximately 50 books introducing India from political, historical, sociological and cultural aspects. The donation to be placed at the Centre, is going to support the work of professors and students of international studies, mainly.

After introducing the activites of the University, HE the Ambassador and the President discussed the possibilities of realising cooperation concerning the whole University, as well as establishing relations with Catholic universities in India.

Eventually, János Jany adjured HE the Ambassador to hold the opening lecture for the MA course of the Centre of International Studies, starting this Autumn. HE the Ambassador kindly accepted the request. The meeting was closed by a tour of our Campus, led by foreign affairs assistant Károly Kopasz.
