Miklós Maróth Granted Honorary Citizenship in Buenos Aires

Professor Miklós Maróth, head of department at the Pázmány Péter University's Faculty of Humanities was honoured by the Argentinian capital's governement at this years assembly of the Union Académique Internationale.

Invited by the Academia Nacional de la Historia of Argentina, this year's Union Académique Internationale (UAI) gathering took place in Buenos Aires from 05.18. to 05.23.

The Buenos Aires government (the Legislatura) took this occasion to award honorary citizenship to professor Eduardo Martiré, president of the Academia Nacional de la Historia, as the capital's citizen, and UAI president Miklós Maróth, as the city's guest. The local government's vice-president handed the degree and the gold medal to the honoured at the opening ceremony of the event.

The resolution of the government of Buenos Aires states "Miklós Maróth is the president of the UAI, an organisation recognised by the world of intellect, as well as one of the most widely acclaimed professors of the art of philology."
